The New Social Coin is Here!
social coin began as a social movement to encourage and track acts of kindness. This soon became a global game changer for social responsibility in companies, universities and cities. In 2014 social coin was selected as one of the top 10 projects in IOT and Big Data in Europe by Startup Bootcamp. In 2015 it was selected as the best inclusion and diversity project worldwide by the United Nations and awarded with a World Summit Award. Just this past year we were selected as the winners of the open business innovation contest by NTT Data Japan. We are also working towards the unveiling of a new project known as citibeats . It’s obvious social coin is evolving.
“Now it is a system that has citizens as protagonists, in encouraging them to act and can help mitigate the problems that exist in their community.”
The social coin system works in the following way: Now, many people publish, think and share, in social networks, issues about the problems that exist in their city, this information is identified by our artificial intelligence (AI), which prioritizes the most relevant problems and through challenges, it shows the solutions to these problems in an app. Each challenge is assigned to a number of social currencies that you can earn by completing the challenge of your interest. Finally with the Social Coins that you are getting you can buy products or services.As you can see, the citizen is the protagonist at all times because he is the one who knows the reality in his community and the idea is to encourage him to act and, together with other people, to improve the environment where they live.
Since we have grown so much mentally, emotionally and physically it came time for a new look!
This is where Orlando Sullon, our brand designer, comes in. Orlando is originally from Lima, Peru but it has been a designer for social here in Spain for over a year now.
“The message behind it is very powerful and very inspiring, that’s why, since I heard Ivan Caballero (CEO of social coin) in a master class in which I participated, I decided to introduce myself and here I am.”
We decided to find his inspiration for the new look of social coin . For the new identity, I have said I have focused on 3 important concepts:
– Community: taking citizens as protagonists since they are the only ones who know the problems that exist within their city.
– Data visualization: our AI shows information through graphics, in which, you can see the progress of the activity of citizens.
– Castell: social coin wants citizens to improve their communities through their good deeds, but people will act because they love the city they belong to, so there is a matter of belonging and identity. Social Coin was born in Barcelona and the Castell is part of its identity and reinforces the concept of integration, to unite all to achieve a great goal.
As a result, the new symbol refers to a community, each point is a citizen that unites to achieve a common goal, to achieve something greater. The points are forming a central circle that, implicitly, is the currency formed by the good actions of citizens.
We have approximately 2 months of work, in which several people on the team participated, made proposals, debated and exchanged opinions leading to the final result. We then asked Orlando if he was excited for the launch of the new site and social coins new direction. He then states;
“Of course, the whole team is excited about this new social coin, Very inspiring, innovative and above all an ambitious project Imagine, to be able to earn social coins for actions that improve my city and to be able to do my shopping with these coins, it’s great! In some way it encourages our economy. The more I act to improve my city, my economy improves. “
